NBA Rumors: Bulls Interested In Spurs' Center

According to Marc Stein, the Chicago Bulls are expressing interest in Spurs center Jakob Poeltl.

Stein went on to note that the Bulls offered the Spurs a first-round pick and more, but the latter opted to reject the proposal. Although the Bulls were unsuccessful during their first attempt, this is a storyline to focus on as we get closer to the trade deadline.

The Bulls would certainly benefit from adding Poeltl to their lineup. In 44 games this season, he has averaged 13.3 points, 9.0 rebounds, and 2.8 assists. This kind of offensive production is a lot higher than in previous seasons, so his trade value is understandably at its best right now. Therefore, it's also understandable why the Spurs are playing hardball right now.

At this juncture of the campaign, the Bulls have a 33-20 record and are just a half-game behind the first-place Miami Heat. Thus, they understandably are looking to make upgrades to their current roster, and Poeltl would do exactly that. It will be interesting to see if they are able to successfully land him from the Spurs by the weekend.
