NBA Rumors: Timberwolves Interested In Celtics Guard

The Minnesota Timberwolves are expressing interest in Boston Celtics guard Marcus Smart, according to Darren Wolfson.

At this point of the season, the Celtics and Timberwolves are both looking to switch up their roster. Boston has a 30-25 record and is 8th in the Eastern Conference, while Minnesota is 28-25 and 7th in the Western Conference. Smart has been talked about a lot in the rumor mill over these past few weeks, and it seems that Minnesota could be potential frontrunners.

Smart has spent the entirety of his NBA career with the Celtics, so it would be strange to see him on a different team if a deal comes to fruition. In 495 games over eight seasons with the team, he has averaged 10.3 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 4.3 assists. He is still productive this season as well, as he has averaged 11.3 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 5.4 assists per contest. However, Boston is still at least considering the possibility of moving the veteran.

It will be interesting to see if the Timberwolves end up landing Smart by the deadline's end. He has the potential to be a very solid addition for them, but time will tell if that does in fact end up occurring.
