Raptors And Spurs Strike A Deal

The Toronto Raptors have traded Goran Dragic and a 2022 first-round pick to the San Antonio Spurs for Thaddeus Young, Drew Eubanks, and a 2022-second pick from the Detroit Pistons.

Dragic is currently dealing with a personal matter and has missed almost the entirety of this season. In five games with the Raptors this campaign, he averaged 8.0 points. 2,8 rebounds, and 1.8 assists. The 35-year-old is expected to be bought out, however. The Dallas Mavericks, Chicago Bulls, Los Angeles Clippers, and Milwaukee Bucks are expected to pursue him.

This is a big move for Young, as playing for the Raptors should allow him to receive more playing time from here. In 26 games with the Spurs this season, he averaged 6.1 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per contest. After averaging 24.3 minutes per game with the Chicago Bulls last season, he only has averaged 14.2 this campaign. Thus, the 33-year-old is probably open to this move.

Eubanks is also a nice addition to the Raptors. Although he is not a star, he should provide them with more depth from here, as he can play both center and power forward. In 49 games this season with the Spurs, he averaged 4.7 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 1.0 assists.
