New Orleans Pelicans Release Forward

The New Orleans Pelicans have released Alize Johnson from his 10-day contract.

This news comes after the team signed Tyrone Wallace to a 10-day contract of his own. They needed to open up a roster spot for the Wallace signing to be official, so they opted to move on from Johnson.

Johnson appeared in three games with the Pelicans, where he averaged 3.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 0.3 assists. Overall, he didn't do too bad in his limited action with the team, so perhaps there could be another team willing to take a chance on him with a 10-day contract. Keep in mind, he also already played in 19 other games this season between the Chicago Bulls and Washington Wizards, too.

Johnson has yet to cement himself a permanent spot in the NBA but seems to have the potential to eventually. In 71 games over four seasons between the Indiana Pacers, Brooklyn Nets, Bulls, Wizards, and Pelicans, he has averaged 2.6 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 0.4 assists per contest. If he has it his way, he will have the chance to build on these numbers soon
