Washington Wizards Waive Shooting Guard

The Washington Wizards have waived Joel Ayayi.

This comes immediately after the news that the Wizards are planning to sign Jordan Schakel to a two-way contract. To make the Schakel signing official, the Wizards needed to waive either Ayayi or Cassius Winston. Now, we know which player they have chosen.

In seven games this season with the Wizards, Ayayi averaged 0.3 points, 0.4 points, and 0.6 assists. With that, he played 2.9 minutes per contest, so he did not receive too many chances to actually succeed. Now, the 22-year-old will be aiming to have more opportunities with a new NBA franchise.

Ayayi has also appeared in 20 games with the Capital City Go-Go this campaign. In them, he averaged 9.0 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 6.3 assists. Overall, he has played well in the G League, so one could argue that he has some potential.

Alas, let's see what happens with Ayayi from here.
