NBA Rumors: 3 Potential Destinations for Suns' Deandre Ayton

Phoenix Suns big man Deandre Ayton was supposed to be a fundamental core piece for the franchise when he was selected first overall in the 2018 NBA draft. Now, the team is looking to move their big man as the pending restricted free agent is likely going to be involved in a sign-and-trade deal this offseason.

According to Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report, expect to see a long list of suitors be involved in Ayton talks including three teams that are deemed favorites to this point including the San Antonio Spurs, Atlanta Hawks and Charlotte Hornets.

Fischer recently released some new information on the Suns' situation with their big man and had this to say on the matter:

Now, there are three teams most often linked by league personnel as Ayton’s potential suitors on the open market: Atlanta, Detroit and Portland. Multiple team executives also pointed to Charlotte, with a clear hole at center, and San Antonio, one of the few teams with significant cap space, as possible landing spots for Ayton.

It's not often a team gives up on a #1 overall pick before signing a contract extension. Considering too the results are there as Ayton is developing nicely. The 6-foot-11 center averaged 17.2 points per game and 10.2 rebounds last season.

Keep an eye on the Hornets as they have LaMelo Ball to build around and are trying hard to land a center who can create an effective two-man game with their up and coming point guard. Also don't expect the Suns to deal Ayton to the western conference if they can avoid it.
