NBA Rumors: Eastern Conference Contender In Pursuit Of Jerami Grant

Jerami Grant had his name swirling around the trade market at the deadline in February, and now that the offseason is underway, his suitors have re-emerged. A new team has entered the fray, as a report has the Miami Heat in hot pursuit.

As noted by NBA Insider Adam Borai, the fact that Grant is eligible for a contract extension—sources say in the neighbourhood of $112M over four years—has had some potential trade partners shying away.

The 28-year-old Grant is entering the final year of his contract with the Detroit Pistons, and previously, the Portland Trail Blazers and Atlanta Hawks are among the teams that have expressed interest.

The other intriguing part of any talks involving Grant, is that he's expressed a desire to remain in a primary scoring role in whatever team he goes to. The Heat, of course, have Jimmy Butler in that role currently, and that's likely a battle that Grant would not win.
