NBA Rumors: Hawks Dangling Forward To Get Into The Lottery

The Atlanta Hawks didn't quite have the season they expected, having to battle through the Play-In tournament, and falling short of their appearance in the Conference Final from 2021. In an attempt to add some fresh talent to their lineup, word is that the Hawks are dangling forward John Collins in an attempt to get high up into the lottery.

According to Kevin O'Connor of The Ringer:

League sources say the Hawks are looking to add a lottery pick either by outright trading John Collins or also including (their No. 16) selection.

He adds that the Portland Trail Blazers, who own the No. 7 pick, are a team that the Hawks have had conversations with along those lines.

The Blazers are looking to add an impact player to join Damian Lillard, rather than taking on another rookie. They need to impress Lillard quickly with an ability to contend, or he could ask out.

Currently, mock drafts have 6'6" G League Ignite guard Dyson Daniels, Iowa power forward Keegan Murray or Memphis center Jalen Duren going right around the No. 7 spot.
