NBA Rumors: Hornets "Hesitant" On Miles Bridges Demands

With executives around the league (and just about everyone else) expecting Charlotte Hornets' big man Miles Bridges to demand—and command—the max as a restricted free agent, there's now some doubt creeping in about whether the front office will match.

"Sources said there’s hesitancy from Charlotte to match a max sheet," writes NBA Insider Shams Charania.

This is puzzling, as Bridges had a breakout season in 2021-22, as the forward boosted his scoring by nearly eight points a night, to 20.2, while pulling down 7 rebounds and dishing out 3.8 assists, all career-highs.

As noted by Charania, after the performances in the playoffs of forwards like Andrew Wiggins, Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, it's clear the type of impact these elite wings can have.

The Hornets are still feeling stung by the sudden about-face of their coach of choice Kenny Atkinson deciding not to take their job after all, but now they could also be facing the departure of emerging star like Bridges.

This could turn out to be a disastrous offseason in Charlotte if things don't turn quick.
