NBA Rumors: "Palpable Optimism" Of Irving-Westbrook Trade

According to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports, the Los Angeles Lakers and Brooklyn Nets are "actively engaged in discussions" on a trade that would send Kyrie Irving to LA, and bring Russell Westbrook to the Nets.

Haynes described the "palpable optimism" that a deal can be struck this summer.

One of the sticking points, however, is what the additional assets involved might be. For salary cap reasons, the Nets want to send Joe Harris to LA as well, but the Lakers have other ideas.

LA prefers Seth Curry over Harris. Steph's little brother is on an expiring $8.5M deal, while Harris still has $38.6M owed to him over the next two years. Harris sat out most of this past season with ankle problems that eventually led to surgery.

We'll still go with the "palpable optimism" angle, and look forward to a potentially fascinating reunion of Kyrie and LeBron in La La Land.
