NBA Free Agent Signing: D'Angelo Russell Has Decided on His 2025-26 Destination

D'Angelo Russell was one of the more notable point guards on the free agent market, and he has found a home with a team that was definitely in need of a lead guard, the Dallas Mavericks.

This was widely expected to go down, after the Mavericks also considered the likes of Malcolm Brogdon, and others. It's reported to be a 2-year, $13 million deal.

Dallas will be without Kyrie Irving for at least the first half of the season with a torn ACL, and will need a capable fill-in for him, as they attempt to be a legit contender this season even after trading Luka Doncic last year. They landed Cooper Flagg with the first overall pick in the NBA Draft, and paired with Anthony Davis, could still see Dallas being a team to be taken seriously.

Last year with the Brooklyn Nets and LA Lakers, D'Lo averaged 12.6 points and 5.1 assists. His three-point shooting, however, took a massive dive, plummeting to 31.4%, after holding firm at over 41% in each of the previous two seasons.

For his career, Russell averages 17.3 points, 5.7 assists and 36.5% from long range.
