NBA Rumors: Spurs To Ask Very High Price For This Player

The trade of Dejounte Murray confirmed that the San Antonio Spurs are in the middle of an overhaul of their roster. And they still have one very large potential trade chip. As in 7'1", 245 lb large. But he won't be coming cheaply.

Center Jakob Poeltl is only 26, and could still realistically be a part of the Spurs' rebuild. And according to Heavy.com, the team will be asking for a very hefty price for their big man. IF they're willing to deal him at all.

One general manager told Heavy Sports, “The sense we got is that, yes, they’re rebuilding, but they don’t want to burn the thing to the ground and start from there. Poeltl’s the kind of guy that can give them a solid presence inside and make things better from a competitive standpoint when you’re trying to develop the guys who are going to be out there with him.”

“We looked into it,” another league exec said. “The sense we got is that they ain’t moving him.”

Poeltl had a career year in his 6th season, posting 13.5 points per game, 9.3 rebounds and 2.8 assists—all career highs by a good margin.

He was a focus of some teams back at the February trade deadline as well (notably the Toronto Raptors, his original team), but the asking price then was heavy: a rotation player plus a first-round pick.

Being their one solid established young veteran now, that price may even have gone up.
