Thunder Waive Forward

The Oklahoma City Thunder will reportedly waive forward Isaiah Roby, according to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.

Drafted 45th overall by the Detroit Pistons in 2019, Roby has spent his entire career in Oklahoma City.

In 45 games (28 starts) this past 2021-22 season, the 24-year-old averaged 10.1 points and 4.8 rebounds in 21.1 minutes per game. He also shot 51.4 percent from the field and an impressive 44.4 percent from three.

Teams looking for an intriguing young stud with upside should take a flier on Roby. He offers good size and versatility at the power forward position and is capable of spacing the floor with a reliable outside shot.

The Thunder selected Chet Holmgren with the no. 2 overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft. They traded for Ousmane Dieng, a 6-foot-10 forward originally drafted 11th overall by the New York Knicks. OKC also drafted 6-foot-10 forward Jaylin Williams at no. 34 in the second round.

By taking a trio of forwards in the draft, the Thunder won't have room for guys like Roby to stick around. That is the conundrum in having a boatload of picks like OKC does.
