Wizards Hiring NBA Champion As Assistant Coach

The Washington Wizards are hiring two-time NBA champion James Posey as assistant coach, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reports.

Posey spent five years as an assistant with the Cleveland Cavaliers from 2014 to 2019. In 2013, he served as an assistant for Cleveland's G-League affiliate, the Canton Charge.  

Posey played 12 seasons in the NBA and had stops in seven different franchises. As noted, he won two NBA titles. 

He started the first being in 2006 with the Miami and the second as a member of the 2008 Boston Celtics.

In 864 career games, the 6-foot-8 forward averaged 8.6 points and 4.7 rebounds.
