Celtics Sign Former Raptors Draft Pick Bust

He was once dubbed as being "two years away from being two years away." Now, former controversial Toronto Raptors first-round draft pick Bruno Caboclo has signed on with the Boston Celtics.

It's a training camp deal, which means the 26-year-old has a chance to earn his keep during camp and win a spot on the Celtics' roster.

Caboclo played in his native Brazil the past season, and was recently named MVP of Sao Paulo FC’s victory in the Basketball Champions League Americas Season 3 Finals.

He last appeared in the NBA in 2020 with the Houston Rockets, playing six games.

When he was shockingly selected with the 20th overall pick of the 2014 NBA Draft, he was famously referred to by ESPN Draft Analyst Fran Fraschilla as being "2 years away from being 2 years away," in terms of an assessment on his readiness (or lack thereof) for the NBA.

Now, it's double that time — 8 years later, and we'll see if Bruno was actually "4 years away from being 4 years away."
