Trail Blazers Sign Free Agent Big Man

The battle for backup big man minutes in Rip City is on. The Portland Trail Blazers continue to juggle their roster heading into camp, with the signing of another big body.

Power forward/center Devontae Cacok played last season with the San Antonio Spurs, but has now been signed to an Exhibit 10 deal by the Blazers, per Shams Charania. This follows swiftly on the heels of Portland's inking of center Olivier Sarr to an Exhibit 10 deal for training camp.

This creates a big man battle for the team's second two-way spot.

Cacok went undrafted in the 2019 NBA Draft out of UNC-Wilmington, and joined the Los Angeles Lakers as a free agent for the 2020 and 2021 seasons, playing a handful of games. He moved to the San Antonio organization last year, where he got into 15 games for the Spurs averaging just 8 minutes per game.

In 14 games with the Spurs' G League team in Austin, however, Cacok posted an impressive 20.9 points and 12.4 rebounds.

The Spurs declined his $2M qualifying offer after last season, making him a free agent.
