It's Official: Mavericks Sign Veteran Point Guard; Waive 4 Other Players

The Dallas Mavericks continue to massage the roster they'll go into the regular season with, today making it official that they've signed 30-year-old Argentinian point guard Facundo Campazzo.

It's a one-year deal for Campazzo, who'll team up once again with superstar Luka Doncic. The two were teammates at Real Madrid during the 2017-18 season and helped lead the team to the EuroLeague and Spanish league championship titles. In 2019, Campazzo won Finals MVP in leading Real to another league title.

He spent the previous two seasons with another European superstar (Nikola Jokic) with the Denver Nuggets. He averaged 5.6 points and 3.5 assists in 20 minutes per contest over his two years in the Mile High City, while dishing out a number of highlight-reel dimes

The Mavericks, meanwhile, trimmed their roster by four others.

They've waived Marcus Bingham Jr., Mouhamadou Gueye, Tyler Hall and D.J. Stewart Jr.

Bingham Jr. and Gueye were undrafted free agents and are likely to wind up with the Mavs' G League affiliate, the Texas Legends.
