Surprise Team To Make Offer To Carmelo Anthony

The NBA season is nearly a month old, and 10-time All-Star Carmelo Anthony is still without a job. But maybe not for long, according to a new report. It's expected that the Tainan TSG GhostHawks will be making an offer to Melo to play in Taiwan.

GhostHawks head coach Liu Meng-chu said that the team's ownership had greenlit making an offer to Anthony.

If Melo accepts, he'd be a featured opponent of fellow spurned NBA multi-time All-Star Dwight Howard. He accepted a contract last week to play in Taiwan for the Taoyuan Leopards.

Anthony is a 19-year NBA veteran, and last played last season with the Los Angeles Lakers, where he averaged 13.3 points in a productive role off the bench. There were rumors over the summer that a couple of different teams might be interested in Anthony for this season, including the Boston Celtics, but all of that talk soon fizzled.

The T1 League in Taiwan is starting its second season of professional basketball, and hopes that by bringing in big names like Dwight Howard and Carmelo Anthony (if he accepts an offer) they will really put themselves on the basketball map.

Anthony averaged 22.5 points and 6.2 rebounds over the course of his 19-year NBA career. He's turned into a reliable 3-point shooter in his later years, hitting on well over 38% from downtown in the last three seasons.
