Phoenix Suns Get Brutal News On Devin Booker

This is not what the Phoenix Suns needed to hear right now. Cam Johnson is still out (though closing in on a return), Jae Crowder is still sitting at home, and now comes the news that they'll be without superstar Devin Booker for at least a month.

A left groin strain has been diagnosed, and Booker will sidelined for at least four weeks, at which point he'll be re-evaluated.

He missed three games with the injury just before Christmas, during which the Suns went 1-2, then he tried to come back on Christmas Day against the Denver Nuggets, but managed to play only four minutes before aggravating his groin, scoring just two points.

The 26-year-old, 3-time All-Star is averaging a career-high 27.1 points with 5.6 assists and 4.6 rebounds while shooting 37% from downtown.

Injuries have shaved quite a few games off Booker's career to date, having played as many as 70 games only once in the last five seasons, and this one will make six.

“Injuries are a part of any NBA season but we’ve probably had more than the norm," head coach Monty Williams said of the latest blow to the Suns' roster. "We don’t really measure it at all but it seems like we’ve been punched in the gut with it a bit.”
