NBA Rumors: Knicks Interested In Pistons Forward

The New York Knicks are looking for some proven depth at the wing as we approach the trade deadline, and according to SNY's Knicks Insider Ian Begley, they've got Detroit Pistons forward Saddiq Bey on their radar.

"In general, a name that has been talked about recently is Saddiq Bey in Detroit,” Begley reported on Tuesday. “The Knicks are among the teams that have registered some interest in Saddiq. I don’t know how far discussions have gotten, but Bey, obviously a Villanova guy, wing, could help the Knicks from a depth perspective."

Bey would certainly slot into the wing void created by the complete disappearance of Cam Reddish from coach Tom Thibodeau's rotation.

Bey had been considered one of the core pieces in the Pistons' rebuild last season, when he averaged 16.1 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.8 assists. All of those numbers are down a bit this year, and it seems a bit of the tarnish is off, leading to his name appearing in trade rumors.

On the defensive side of the ball, it's a disaster, as he ranks near the bottom 10 in the league of the entire player pool in defensive rating.

His shooting has improved dramatically, however, over the past 26 games, hitting on 40% of his threes in that time.

As a hopeful 3-and-D wing, the 6'7" Bey is getting the "3" part sorted out... just not so much the "D".

Teams will continue to come calling, though, right up till the Feb. 9th trade deadline.
