NBA Rumors: Serge Ibaka May Have Reunion In The Works; 4 Teams Interested

With the Milwaukee Bucks actively looking for a new home for disgruntled center Serge Ibaka, an intriguing possibility is making the rounds, as Sam Amick of HoopsHype reports that the Los Angeles Clippers could be interested in a reunion.

Several Western Conference teams have expressed interest in forward/center Serge Ibaka. That includes the Clippers, sources told Hoops Wire, who may be interested in bringing back Ibaka for the right price.

Ibaka was with the Clippers for the 2020-21 season, and half of last season, before moving on to the Bucks. In '20-21, the Repbulic of Congo big man put up 11.1 points, 6.7 rebounds and 1.1 blocked shots per game. His numbers, however, have slipped over the past year, due to injuries and lack of playing time.

But another report, from Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, indicates that at least three Eastern Conference teams are looking into Ibaka as well.

Several teams are monitoring Ibaka, including the Brooklyn Nets, Miami Heat, and Atlanta Hawks, league sources told HoopsHype. The sense is that Milwaukee would be willing to part with Ibaka for a second-round pick, according to NBA executives who spoke with HoopsHype.

A second-round pick is certainly not too much to ask for a backup center who would only be given limited minutes. The Nets might have an inside avenue to Serge due to their friendship going all the way back to their days with the Oklahama City Thunder about a decade ago.

The Heat are another interesting fit, as backup center Dewayne Dedmon is certainly on the outs in South Beach.

Ibaka has been away from the Bucks for a few weeks due to "personal reasons" which, essentially, translates to the fact that he was spending nearly his entire season pinned to the bench, out of the team's rotation.
