Washington Wizards Center Kristaps Porzingis Suffers Ankle Injury

The Washington Wizards could be without Kristaps Porzingis for the near future. The center exited after 23 minutes in Saturday's 138-118 win over the Orlando Magic with an ankle injury and did not return.

Porzingis totalled 17 points and six rebounds before his injury. The frequently injured center had been off to one of the healthiest and strongest starts to his career, appearing in 41 of a possible 46 games while averaging 22.1 points per game and 8.8 rebounds per game with a .468 field goal percentage. Porzingis hasn't played more than 57 games in a season since 2016-17.

Porzingis arrived with the Wizards via trade with the Dallas Mavericks in February of last year. So far, he has exceeded expectations, improving in nearly all facets from his days with the Mavs. Over 58 games with the Wizards, Porzingis has compiled 22.1 points per game with a .601 true shooting percentage. Over 134 games with the Mavericks, he averaged 20.0 ppg with a .563 ts%.

The Wizards will play the Mavericks on Tuesday. Porzingis will likely miss an opportunity for revenge.
