Chris Paul Comments on Being Part of Trade Talks

The first major trade was made yesterday involving Kyrie Irving being shipped to the Dallas Mavericks. Amongst the teams that were interested in trading for the former Nets guard was the Phoenix Suns. There was a leaked report that mentioned who the Suns were willing to part ways with. Chris Paul was a name that came up, and the Suns' guard commented on the reality of being part of trade talks.

The Suns were in the Kyrie sweepstakes once he announced that he was requesting a trade. They offered to give up Paul, the disgruntled Jae Crowder, and several picks. The reality of the leaked trade proposal is not surprising though to the 12-time All-Star Suns guard.

In fact, Paul mentioned that "it's a business," something that happens in the league. He referenced as well that he's "seen crazier," when talking about his trade from Houston. The 37-year-old also said that "nobody's exempt from being traded." All Paul can do is be professional and "show up to work."

Whether it was surprising or not to Paul, it was sure to make headlines if he was dealt to the Nets. Apparently, the Suns are not done pursuing Nets players though, this time for superstar Kevin Durant. Paul can be part of that trade if it ever goes down.

What is surprising is how far the Suns have fallen since making the NBA Finals just two years ago with the same roster. Although they lost to the Bucks, many had Phoenix making their way back. However, with the noise surrounding ill relations with head coach Monty Williams and Deandre Ayton, the team looks out of sorts.

One thing remains though, Paul is still an elite guard who as a veteran can help several teams. If the Suns make a trade, the idea is it will definitely include Crowder. Phoenix is currently in fifth place and can make a serious push to be in the top three of a competitive Western Conference with a meaningful trade.
