Houston Rockets' Jalen Green Injures Groin

The Houston Rockets are having a season to forget. In Wednesday night's humiliating 133-96 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder, Jalen Green exited with a groin injury and did not return.

Green played a little more than 16 minutes in last night's game, accumulating 14 points, two rebounds, and two assists while hitting three of his 10 field goal attempts. He's been the centrepiece of a miserable Rockets offense this season, averaging 21.8 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 3.6 assists with a middling .534 true shooting percentage. If he misses any time, the Rockets' NBA-worst 13-45 record could sink all the lower.

As the second-overall pick of the 2021 NBA Draft, Green's potential holds the key to the Rockets' future. At 20 years old, he has yet to show a complete enough skillset to promise future stardom. The Rockets are on pace to win fewer than 20 games for the third-straight season, but unless they hit the jackpot in the 2023 NBA Draft or free agency, there isn't much reason to believe success is on the horizon. Their protracted rebuild will likely continue for at least one more year.

The Rockets will visit the Golden State Warriors on Friday night.
