Mavericks New-Look Backcourt Expected To Make Debut on Friday

The Dallas Mavericks' shiny new backcourt of Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving is reportedly expected to make its debut on Friday night when they take on the Sacramento Kings, per Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Doncic has missed Dallas' last three contests, including Irving's debut against the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday.

The Irving-led Mavs didn't miss their superstar guard's services that much as they took a sound 110-104 win over the Clippers.

In his Dallas debut, Irving dropped 24 points on an efficient 9-of-17 shooting night from the field, including 4-of-8 from beyond the arc.

The Mavericks acquired Irving a couple of days after the eight-time All-Star shockingly requested a trade from the Brooklyn Nets.

In exchange, Dallas sent over defensive stalwart Dorian Finney-Smith, guard Spencer Dinwiddie, a first-round pick, and two second-rounders. The Mavericks also got Markieff Morris in the deal.

A lot of pundits have been skeptical of his deal, mostly because of the baggage and history Irving has carried into pretty much every franchise he's played for in the NBA. Moreover, there are still questions about his fit alongside Doncic.

Mavs and NBA fans alike will finally get to see what that looks like tonight.
