Portland Trail Blazers' Damian Lillard Continues Hot Streak, Tops Memphis Grizzlies

The Portland Trail Blazers picked up a 122-112 win over the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday night, and Damian Lillard was his typically sensational self. The six-time All Star compiled 42 points, 10 assists, eight rebounds, and a block in nearly 40 minutes of playing time.

Lillard hit 11 of his 22 field goal attempts, including five of 13 from three. He also sunk 15 of his 16 free throws. It was Lillard's second 42-point game in a row and his sixth 40+ point effort over his last 11 games, a period in which he has averaged an astonishing 39.1 points per game with a .530 field goal percentage. For the season, Dame Time is on pace for career highs in points per game (30.7), field goal percentage (.464), and true shooting percentage (.643).

Unfortunately, Lillard's incredible performance isn't equating to a particularly successful season for the Trail Blazers. At 25-26, they sit 11th in the Western Conference standings and just outside the play-in tournament. Unless they can improve the team around Lillard, or he somehow jumps yet another level, the Trail Blazers aren't likely to be a factor in the postseason.

The Trail Blazers visit the Washington Wizards on Friday night.
