Report: Lakers & Jazz Discussing Blockbuster

"The belief within the Lakers' organization is that they need to make at least one more move by the Feb. 9 trade deadline to give themselves a legitimate shot at competing for a championship." That's the word from NBA Insider Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report.

Some might say that "one more move" won't quite do it, but nevertheless, the Lakers are engaging in discussions all around the league, and one of the most notable of late, according to Haynes, is with the Utah Jazz.

Those conversations, as would be expected, centered around Russell Westbrook, and the Jazz taking on his expiring $47M contract. Right now, the talks are being labeled "exploratory", but knowing Jazz CEO Danny Ainge as we do, there would undoubtedly have to be one of the Lakers' much-ballyhooed first-round picks (2027, 2029) heading Utah's way to make it work.

Who might the Lakers be interested in from Utah? Mike Conley is just one name they've been linked to.

The Lakers have also been linked in recent talks with the San Antonio Spurs and the Charlotte Hornets, as they look to make another move before Feb. 9th

LA already made the first big move of the trade season, acquiring Rui Hachimura from the Washington Wizards a couple of weeks back.
