NBA Rumors: Masai Ujiri "Frustrated"; Linked To Eastern Conference Rival

Masai Ujiri is very "frustrated" with where his Toronto Raptors are at, and rumblings have begun once again, linking him to a team that has pursued him before, and now have their own general manager's opening—the Washington Wizards.

According to Steve Bulpett of Heavy Sports, a rival GM says the Raptors president of basketball operations has many things that he's currently disheartened about:

Masai (Ujiri) is really, really frustrated. He’s frustrated with (Fred) VanVleet also, because he hasn’t shown him any indication that he wants to stay. So I think he’s really down about that situation. Maybe it’s because everything’s still so fresh, but there’s a lot they have to get done there. It didn’t surprise anyone that Nick moved on.

I don’t know what they’re going to do, but I’ve been hearing that Washington is coming after Masai again.

The Wizards fired their general manager Tommy Sheppard after a disappointing season of their own, finishing out of the playoffs.

Ujiri has already relieved former Coach of the Year Nick Nurse of his duties on the Raptors bench, and certainly many more changes are in store this offseason. Masai's end-of-season news conference hinted of that "frustration", and what his franchise is missing:

“The feel, the spirit of who we really are," lamented Ujiri. "It’s been very disappointing for us and we want to gain momentum back as a team. That togetherness. All the things as a culture we have stood for here, we want to get it back."

It's going to be a very interesting summer in Toronto, where franchise pillar Fred VanVleet could be moving on, as well as another regular member of the rotation
