NBA Rumors: Chris Paul Could Be Re-Routed To Former Team (+ 2 Other Potential Landing Spots)

The blockbuster deal on Sunday sent shockwaves through the NBA, but it appears the machinations of the Bradley Beal/Chris Paul trade might not be done yet. According to several reports, CP3 will be on the move again to a contender, and Insider Chris Haynes says he could be in for a reunion in Los Angeles.

Haynes reports that the LA Clippers are expected to pursue Paul as the Wizards look to re-route the 12-time All-Star.

Paul spent six of those All-Star seasons with the Clippers, from 2011 through 2017, averaging 18.8 points, 9.8 assists and shooting 37.8% from deep in that "Lob City" run.

The Clips would need to send out $22.6M in salaries to get a deal done, which could easily be accomplished by moving one of their large contracts (Eric Gordon, $20M or Marcus Morris, $17M), plus a smaller one like Amir Coffey or Bones Hyland.

The Miami Heat would be another potential landing spot if the Clippers can't make a deal work. Miami lost out on the Beal sweepstakes, and are looking to move on from Kyle Lowry at the point. A deal here could work.

The Los Angeles Lakers are likely still in the market for CP3 as well. LeBron James has long wanted to unite with Paul, and they were thought to be a prime candidate to sign him if he was waived by the Suns. Perhaps they can still land him in a trade with the Wizards.

Paul averaged 13.9 points, 4.3 rebounds and 8.9 assists in 59 games with the Suns last season.
