Jeff Van Gundy Lands New NBA Gig

Former NBA coach and long-time popular NBA analyst Jeff Van Gundy has landed on his feet after being unceremoniously dumped by ESPN this summer in a cost-cutting move.

Van Gundy has been hired as a senior consultant for the Boston Celtics. He'll be on the basketball operations side and will reportedly split his time between Boston and Maine, the Celts' G-League affiliate.

Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla is certainly thrilled to have the former top-notch NBA coach in the organization.

“Anytime you can add high-character, professional people, I think it’s a no-brainer. Fortunate enough that he’s here, not just for the coaching staff, but everybody.”

Van Gundy spent 16 years as a broadcaster with ESPN and called the NBA Finals in each and every one of those years. Before that, he was a celebrated head coach with the New York Knicks and Houston Rockets, compiling a 430-318 record during his 11 seasons on the bench. He led the Knicks to the NBA Finals in 1999.
