NBA Rumors: Intriguing Report On DeMar DeRozan's Bulls Future

The Chicago Bulls are entering the 3rd year of the Zach LaVine/DeMar DeRozan/Lonzo Ball era. Naturally, due to Ball missing the last year and a half, and being set to miss all of this season as well, the team never really got to see what that trio could do.

Now, according to NBA Insider Brian Windhorst, DeRozan's future in the Windy City is very much up in the air.

“One guy to keep an eye on, for everybody, the whole league, this year is DeMar DeRozan," said Windhorts. "If he doesn’t extend with the Bulls, I think he becomes a trade target as the season goes along.”

DeRozan is entering the final season of the three-year, $81.9M contract he signed with the Bulls, and per Windhorst, after the Lonzo disaster, the team doesn't want to be left with nothing to show for DeRozan, who could leave in unrestricted free agency next summer.

The former Toronto Raptor and San Antonio Spur, now 34, has fully lived up to his end of the bargain in Chicago, averaging 26.2 points, 4.9 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game in his first two seasons there, all well above his career marks.
