NBA Rumors: Hawks Dejounte Murray Talks With 3 Notable Teams Heating Up

NBA Insider Chris Haynes is plugged in with a lot of players and teams around the Association, so when he says that he firmly believes that the Atlanta Hawks Dejounte Murray will be traded by the February 8th deadline, it’s time to analyze which teams will be at the front of the line.

Los Angeles Lakers

Talks are underway, and Atlanta is “ready to trade” Murray for the right value. The problem there, of course, is that the “right value” is likely Austin Reaves, and the Lakers have made it clear—they are not inclined to trade him.

“With the February 8 trade deadline approaching, the Lakers are seeking speed and quickness in the backcourt,” says Haynes. “The Lakers want to push the pace offensively, and someone who can serve as a point of attack defender.

“Rival executives believe the Lakers and (Toronto) Raptors, to name a few, will begin progressing to more serious discourse with the Atlanta Hawks pertaining to Murray. But it remains to be seen if the Lakers have enough attractive assets to entice Atlanta.”

Golden State Warriors

The Dubs are trying to straddle the line between staying competitive with the Steph Curry/Klay Thompson/Draymond Green core, while ushering in a new youth movement as well. The 27-year-old Murray would seem to offer the best of both worlds.

Miami Heat

The Heat are also seen as a legitimate landing spot for Murray according to Jake Fisher of Yahoo Sports. Miami can certainly use a reboot in the backcourt with Kyle Lowry reaching the end of the line, and Gabe Vincent having been lost in free agency last summer.

Meanwhile, in what is likely a negotiating ploy, Atlanta has made it known in league circles that they’re "more than comfortable keeping Murray in the fold and revisiting his future in the offseason.”
