Insider: Suns Poised To Make Huge Move After Series

Things are looking pretty bleak for the star-studded Phoenix Suns in their first-round series with the Minnesota Timberwolves, as Kevin Durant & Co. are down 3-0, and of course no NBA team has ever come back from a 3-0 deficit in a best-of-7 series.

The Suns thought they were building a championship contender with their 'Big 3' of Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal, then bringing in a battle-tested, recent championship-winning head coach in Frank Vogel.

But according to NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski, Vogel's days could be numbered on the Phoenix bench... That number possibly being 'one'. As in one more game, or one more loss in this series.

"There's an increasing belief around the league that Frank Vogel's job is in peril. If this team loses, especially as abruptly as they might, in a sweep, as dispirited as they looked in Game 3, when you have this kind of a payroll and this kind of expectations, you've gotta not only show more in the first round you've got to get out of the first round... Frank Vogel's job very much may be in jeopardy."

Woj then noted that a 6-game series loss in the second round last year cost former head coach Monty Williams his job. Certainly, a first-round sweep does not bode well for Vogel.

The 50-year-old Vogel won the NBA championship as the bench boss of the Los Angeles Lakers in the bubble in 2020, and in 902 regular season games, holds an overall 480-422 mark for a .532 winning percentage, almost identical to the .538 win% he has in 91 career playoff games coached.

The Suns finished the regular season this year with a disappointing 49-33 mark and a 6-seed in the West, and now are on the verge of an embarrassing first-round spanking at the hands of the T-Wolves.

Game 4 is Sunday night.
