NBA Rumors: Top 3 D'Angelo Russell Landing Spots for 2024-25

As the Los Angeles Lakers get ready to disperse for the summer, one player was still getting up shots even after their elimination on Monday at the hands of the Denver Nuggets. D'Angelo Russell knows this is an important offseason for him, as he is set to opt out of his $18 option and enter free agency.

Jovan Buha of The Athletic says that the Orlando Magic and San Antonio Spurs will be top pursuers of Russell on the open market.

Both teams can use a steady veteran at the point to help their young rosters mature, and both need some improved shooting from the backcourt. Russell averaged a career-best 41.5% from beyond the arc in the just-concluded campaign.

And if those two teams don't do it for you, there are already odds being posted on D'Lo's next team, and the Atlanta Hawks, who are seen as certain to trade one of their existing point guards, Trae Young or Dejounte Murray, are the clear favorite, at +250. Surprisingly, neither the Magic or the Spurs make this list.

To add some levity to the whole situation, the oddsmakers at Bovada even included the Guangdong Southern Tigers in China at +3000, the Taiwan Beer Leopards at +5000, and "Any European Team" at +2500.

Russell averaged 18.0 points, 6.3 assists and 3.1 rebounds per game this season.
