Lakers Trade Rumors: Trae Young Lands in LA in Proposed Blockbuster

Now that the Los Angeles Lakers are done for the year, following the Atlanta Hawks to the sidelines, the trade talk of getting Trae Young to the Purple & Gold is really starting to ramp up.

One report has submitted a proposed blockbuster deal that might get the job done to allow the superstar point guard to join LeBron James and Anthony Davis in Hollywood. Andy Bailey of Bleacher Report thinks it could go like this:

LA Lakers Receive:

  • Trae Young
Atlanta Hawks Receive:
  • Austin Reaves
  • Rui Hachimura
  • Gabe Vincent
  • 2029 1st-Rounder
  • 2030 1st-Round pick swap
  • 2031 1st-Rounder

This would be quite the haul for the Hawks, who are clearly looking to move on from the Young-Dejounte Murray backcourt going forward. They get a slew of assets for a re-tooling. Vincent can act as a backup at the point to Murray, while Reaves provides another scorer and Hachimura is another nice 3-and-D piece for the Hawks. Not to mention the whack of first-round capital.

As for the Lakers, imagine the lobbing action of Trae to AD, and the offensive orchestration for LeBron and Davis. In addition, the massive defensive deficiencies that Young brings to the floor could be cleaned up in large part by the presence of Davis.

It's obvious the Lakers need another big piece, perhaps this a deal that lands them that third star.
