2 Potential Landing Spots For Pending RFA Josh Giddey

After the big offseason trade that sent pending restricted free agent Josh Giddey to the Chicago Bulls in exchange for defensive dynamo Alex Caruso, Giddey soon after suggested he was looking for a massive $30+ million per year contract from the Bulls. Before even playing a game in his new threads.

That rookie extension never came, as the Bulls would prefer this season to play out and see how Giddey fits and performs. But without a contract, there's a chance that other teams could poach the RFA come next summer.

We take a look at two potential landing spots that would make sense:

Brooklyn Nets

If Giddey is looking for a massive contract, the Nets are one of the few teams with the cap space to make it happen. Brooklyn will be without a point guard next season as both Ben Simmons and Dennis Schroder hit free agency as of next summer. It's pretty certain that the rebuilding team will not be interested in retaining either of them, but the 22-year-old talent Giddey could be an exciting piece for the Nets to build around, if he gets his own offence to run. In his first two games in Chicago, things are already looking up, as he's averaged 15.5 points, 6.0 assists and 5.5 rebounds while playing 27.5 minutes per night.

Washington Wizards

The Wizards are hoping to trade the likes of Kyle Kuzma and his big contract, and maybe others, which could create plenty of cap space after the season to allow them to offer Giddey the bag he's looking for. And it's another rebuilding franchise looking for a backcourt leader to take them into the future. The Wiz currently have Jordan Poole playing out of position at the 'one', while Malcolm Brogdon is, as is often the case, injured, and besides, does not fit their timeline.

But first, Giddey needs to have a big year in Chicago.
