6-Time All-Star Says Lakers "Are Not Serious About Winning"
The Los Angeles Lakers had a pretty quiet offseason on the player front, essentially doing nothing but bringing in LeBron James' son Bronny. A former NBAer who is anything but quiet—DeMarcus Cousins—has ripped the Lakers saying they "are not serious" about winning.
DeMarcus Cousins doesn’t think the Lakers are serious about winning after drafting Bronny James and not making any other moves in the offseason

“I take it as a sign that I don’t really think the Lakers are serious anymore," said Cousins.
Boogie did admit that LeBron playing with his son is "a beautiful thing", but as far as winning a title? Not so much.
"You know, I love everything that it stands for. I think what Bron is doing with his legacy, as a businessman and everything that comes with it, is a beautiful thing. I think it’s really dope. But as far as the Lakers actually competing, I don’t know. I take that as a sign that they aren’t really serious. With the way their season ended last year, with the high expectations, I expected more from them in terms of making moves.”
The Lakers have plenty of needs on their roster, from a viable center to a reliable floor-spacing shooter, but certainly Bronny doesn't fill any of those needs.
Bronny's three-game preseason has been nothing short of disastrous so far, with a plus/minus of minus-40 — the second worst among all NBA players in the preseason — and has a total of just two points, going 1-for-11 from the field.
Boogie, for his part, is a six-time All-Star, and has never been shy about voicing his opinion on just about anything in the NBA. He last played in the league in the 2021-22 season and finished his career averaging 19.6 points and 10.2 rebounds.
As for the Lakers, we had a look at four potential trade targets earlier this week.
