Report: Donte DiVincenzo Back on the Trade Market

He was one of the big pieces going to the Minnesota Timberwolves from the New York Knicks this past summer in the trade that brought Karl-Anthony Towns to the Big Apple.

Now, rumors are out there that Donte DiVincenzo could be on the move again, as Brett Siegel of Clutch Points reports that "several contending teams" have him on their radar.

Donte DiVincenzo is being viewed as a possible trade candidate for several contending teams around the league, sources said. While the Timberwolves value DiVincenzo's skillset, the 27-year-old combo guard was not thrilled with the idea of coming off the bench after being traded.

For a second apron team like Minnesota, moving DiVincenzo could help create a little bit of flexibility and a path to moving out of the second apron next offseason. Right now, there are no indications that the Timberwolves will want to move their newly acquired guard.

DiVincenzo has indeed found himself back in a bench role with Minnesota, after starting 63 of 81 games for the Knicks last season. This year, with the T-Wolves, Vinnie D is averaging 9.5 points (down six points from last season), in 26 minutes per game, down three minutes from last year. His shooting from beyond the arc is way off this season as well, as he's hit on just 32.4% of his threes, down a huge amount from the 40% he shot last year from downtown.

Siegel went on to suggest that if Minny does relent and flip DiVincenzo this season, the Golden State Warriors would be an apt destination. They just lost De'Anthony Melton for the season and will be looking for some help in the backcourt.

DiVincenzo had a nice season in Golden State in 2022-23, and "He was a player the Warriors really wanted to keep before he signed a four-year deal with the Knicks in 2023," writes Siegel.

We'll have to keep an eye on the T-Wolves and their plans for the shooting guard.
