Insider Shams Charania says that Simmons will be meeting with the Cavs and Clippers on Friday.
Simmons’ stay in Brooklyn was marked by injuries, unavailability, and a seemingly general lack of interest in trying to get back to the All-Star type of player he used to be long, long ago.
But it sounds like at least two teams are willing to take a chance and consider giving Simmons another shot.
Simmons averaged 6.2 points, 5.2 rebounds and 6.9 assists this season, but also averaged just 30 games per season in his three years in Brooklyn.
In another life, Simmons was a three-time All-Star with the Philadelphia 76ers, but that was before things came crashing down after he grew disillusioned with the team and held out for an entire season, forcing his move to Brooklyn.
