3 Potential Landing Spots As Trade Talk Heats Up for Celtics' Jrue Holiday

The Boston Celtics have set their price for a Jrue Holiday trade, and we'll soon find out which teams are ready to meet it.

A first-round pick and some salary relief is the asking price, and we take a look at three teams that should step up and meet it to acquire the six-time All-Defensive Team guard.

Golden State Warriors

The Dubs are in 'all-in', 'win-now' mode. With their star core of Steph Curry and Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green all the wrong side of 35, their title window will only be open for another year or two. Adding a championship defensive specialist in the backcourt like Holiday could be the missing piece.

San Antonio Spurs

The Spurs are the trendy pick this offseason to be in the mix for every big-name star that's out there on the trade block. And it's no different with Holiday. With De'Aaron Fox as their new point guard of the future, adding Holiday's defense beside him in the backcourt would be a shrewd move, not to mention the championship experience he'd bring, after winning two NBA titles (2021, Milwaukee Bucks, 2024, Boston Celtics).

Dallas Mavericks

Moving upstate, the other Texas team also has its sights set on title run, and we all know that Mavs GM Nico Harrison leans heavily on the "defense wins championships" mantra, as he's repeated that mantra numerous times to justify his shocking trade of Luka Doncic to the LA Lakers for Anthony Davis.

The other bonus for the Mavericks in a potential trade for Holiday is the fact that Kyrie Irving is out until at least midseason with a torn ACL. Jrue would hold the fort as the starting point guard in Irving's stead, and then move alongside him to cover up Kyrie's defensive deficiencies.
