The investigation centers around allegations related to NBA games and prop bets.
Beasley's attorney has responded to the news by stating, “An investigation is not a charge. Malik is afforded the same right of the presumption of innocence as anyone else under the U.S. Constitution. As of now, he has not been charged with anything.”
Insider Shams Charania says that Beasley and the Pistons were in serious talks on a new three-year, $42 million contract to bring the sharpshooter back to the Motor City, but now they've put the brakes on those talks.
He was coming off a $6M paycheck last season, and had earned himself a chance at a raise to a $14M annual payday with the new contract that was on the table.
Beasley had one of the best seasons of his career heading into free agency, posting 16.3 points per game while shooting 41.6% from three-point range for the Pistons.
Over nine NBA seasons, he's averaged 11.7 points, 2.8 boards and 39.1% from long distance.
