NBA Free Agency: Naz Reid Signs Five-Year Deal

We are just two days from NBA Free Agency, but we already have one huge name coming off the board. One of the top available centers on this year's list, Naz Reid, has signed a five-year, $125 million extension with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Reid declined a $15M player option on his previous contract, opting out in order to sign the new huge extension, which will pay him an AAV of $25M.

The 6'9" stretch big man played a huge part off the bench in the T-Wolves' strong season, with a run to the Western Conference Finals for the second straight year. Reid, the Sixth Man of the Year in the NBA the previous season, averaged career highs in minutes with 27.5 per game, points with 14.2, rebounds with 6.0 and assists at 2.3, along with hitting threes at a 38% clip.

As the Timberwolves decide how their offseason will unfold, they selected French center Joan Beringer with the No. 17 pick in the draft this week, which could put Rudy Gobert’s future with the team in jeopardy. If so, Reid could potentially have a much bigger role.

The 6-foot-9, 264-pounder is entering his prime, as he'll turn 26 before the start of next season. He's a two-way force, excellent at both the offensive and defensive end of the floor, and he is one of only seven players in the NBA this past season to record 150 threes, 150 assists, 50 blocked shots and 50 steals.
