NBA Free Agency: Bradley Beal Finds New NBA Home

Bradley Beal has surrendered nearly $14 million in his buyout process with the Phoenix Suns, in order to be set free and become a free agent. He then immediately signed today with the Los Angeles Clippers.

But let's not shed any tears for Beal having to give up that $13.8 million, as he'll still receive about $97 million from the Suns to NOT play for them.

For the Suns, the move not only puts an end to the worst contract in the NBA once and for all, but it also takes them out of the first and second aprons, reports Charania, giving them access to more tradeable draft picks in the future, and opening up part of the mid-level exception for them to use this summer.

Beal's contract with the Clippers is a two-year, $11 million deal with a player option, which allows him to become a free agent next summer if he opts out.

He now joins Kawhi Leonard and James Harden to form a... wait for it... 'Big 3' in LA. Of course, Beal's last 'Big 3' with Kevin Durant and Devin Booker didn't work out so well, leading to this buyout.

Five other teams had extensive conversations with Beal's agent in attempts to find a way to acquire him once his buyout from Phoenix was complete: the Miami Heat, Milwaukee BucksMinnesota TimberwolvesGolden State Warriors and Los Angeles Lakers. But the Clippers prevailed. Harden recruited Beal hard to join the Clips, according to Charania.

With LA, the 32-year-old Beal will step right into the vacated small forward spot after the Clippers traded Norman Powell earlier this summer to the Heat in a three-team deal. John Collins, acquired in that trade, fills out the Clippers' solid starting lineup, with Brook Lopez also added in free agency, to back up Ivica Zubac at center.
