NBA Free Agency Rumors: 3 Teams Emerge As Favorites to Land Ben Simmons
"Right now, there's a bit of a Ben Simmons sweepstakes going on at the bottom of the barrel of NBA free agency." That's the word from insider Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report. And that's just about where we are in the summer right now on NBA transactions.
He even goes so far as to say that Simmons "is the domino that a lot of agents and teams are waiting on for this next evolution of the offseason market.
Fischer then goes on to name three teams that seem to be the favorites in this so-called 'sweepstakes'.
Sacramento Kings
"Sacramento is definitely still a team that Simmons is deciding amongst his options," said Fischer.
The Kings are definitely in the market for another veteran ball-handling guard, even after bringing in Dennis Schroder as a free agent.
Sacramento, of course, traded their star point guard De'Aaron Fox last season to the San Antonio Spurs.
New York Knicks
The Knicks are another team looking for a veteran playmaking guard to work into the mix after starter Jalen Brunson and shot-maker Deuce McBride.
Talks are intensifying between the Knicks and Ben Simmons’ camp. New York has shown increased interest in bringing Simmons in on a short term deal. Nothing imminent, but momentum is building, sources tell SNY.

Boston Celtics
At least a couple of online bookmakers are putting the Celtics at the top of Simmons' list.

Boston is in need of a veteran playmaker in the backcourt, after dealing Jrue Holiday (a salary dump for luxury tax purposes).
