Warriors Have Set Big Price Tag in Any Kuminga Trade

With Kevin Durant traded and Damian Lillard deciding on his future today, Jonathan Kuminga now remains as one of the longest-running dramas in the NBA this summer.

We'd all thought that a sign-and-trade would have been worked out by now by the Golden State Warriors. But the Dubs have not made any moves this summer, either to add or subtract any players. Kuminga is still an RFA, and is still looking for a big payday that doesn't seem like it's coming from the Warriors, or any other team.

And it might be because of the hefty price tag the Dubs have set, per insider Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report:

The Warriors have indicated to other teams that they want first round draft capital, and certain types of players, whether that's blue chip players or players that they think could play real meaningful rotation level minutes for (head coach) Steve Kerr behind Steph Curry, behind Jimmy Butler, behind Draymond Green.

The Phoenix Suns were one team that was recently interested in Kuminga, but the price tag must have frightened them off.

“Sources say Phoenix, meanwhile, is the latest team to express exploratory interest in a Kuminga sign-and-trade ... challenging as it would be for the Suns to make such a deal happen," says Fischer.

"To my understanding, I don't see much on Phoenix's roster right now that the Warriors really want, and they don't have tradeable assets that the Warriors want either."

Kuminga reportedly turned down an offer with a $30M AAV last summer, and this time around, he's asking for a $25M AAV. But the fact is, there isn't a team out there that can (or is willing to) pay it.

It sounds like this is going to drag on for a while...
