NBA Trade Rumors: 4 Teams Proposed As Russell Westbrook Landing Spots

Free agency is about eight weeks old now, and still, nine-time All-Star Russell Westbrook is without a team. He declined his $3.4 million option to remain with the Denver Nuggets after a relatively successful season there off the bench, but now he's been left twisting in the free agent winds.

And while one team has seemed to be poised to land him, there's a snag in the proceedings. With that, Andy Bailey of Bleacher Report has suggested the top 4 landing spots for Westbrook.

Sacramento Kings

Yes, the Kings have been cited on numerous accounts as "the most likely destination" for Westbrook for his age-37 campaign. The holdup, however, as we shared recently, is that Sacramento would like to trade either Devin Carter or Malik Monk in order to make room on the guard depth chart.

In addition, Westbrook would have to act as backup to newly signed Dennis Schroder.

Miami Heat

The Heat currently are planning to go with Tyler Herro as their starting point guard, with defensive-minded Davion Mitchell as the backup. Neither is a true lead guard. Herro can score with the best of them, but he's miscast as a starting point guard. Westbrook would make sense here.

New York Knicks

Jalen Brunson is the engine that makes the Knicks go, but they could use another true playmaker to come off the bench. Back when the free agency period began, at the beginning of July, the Knicks were one of the small list of teams that reportedly had interest in Russ. Perhaps that still holds.

Milwaukee Bucks

The Bucks lost their starting point in Damian Lillard, first to a torn Achilles, and then to a buyout. They've re-signed Kevin Porter and brought in Cole Anthony to man the point, but as Bailey notes, "Surrounded by shooters like (AJ) Green, (Gary) Trent, Taurean Prince and/or Myles Turner, Westbrook could still cause some issues for Eastern Conference defenses."
