Teams Have Zero Interest in Miami Heat Trade Candidate

The Miami Heat have been canvassing the marketplace, actively shopping veteran point guard Terry Rozier, but to no avail. Doesn't seem like teams have any interest.

Per Ethan Skolnick of SI.com, (h/t Sam Amico of Hoops Wire), Rozier's hefty expiring $24 million contract isn't drawing any suitors.

The Heat have been actively shopping the expiring final year of Rozier’s contract for just about anything, but specifically frontcourt help. They have found no takers. Other teams saw Rozier’s dramatic decline as well: including a lot of overdribbling into bad shots.

Rozier is nowhere near the player he was in his heyday with the Charlotte Hornets a few years back. After averaging 20 points and 4.7 assists over five seasons in Charlotte from 2019 through 2024, Rozier, now 31 years old, was about half that player this past year in Miami, averaging 10.6 points and 2.6 assists in 64 games.

In addition, making Rozier even tougher to trade is the fact that the FBI is investigating a gambling scheme that the Miami guard has been allegedly linked to. He has not yet been charged or accused of any wrongdoing, but, according to Skolnick, "There is no timetable on when that investigation will conclude. Until it does, one league insider told Five Reasons Sports that Rozier is considered ‘toxic’ in a trade.”

Yikes.

If they can't find a trade partner, the Heat, suggests Amico, may even look to waive Rozier, using a waive-and-stretch.

The Heat are looking for some help in the frontcourt, and had been hoping to use Rozier to acquire some in a trade.
