Breaking: Ex-1st-Rounder Bones Hyland Agrees to UFA Deal With West Contender
A first-round pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, Bones Hyland had a promising start to his NBA career in Denver, but it has somewhat stalled over the last couple of seasons. He'll now get another chance with the Minnesota Timberwolves, after signing a free agent deal with the Western Conference contenders.

Hyland began his career with the Denver Nuggets, where he averaged 10 points as a rookie, playing 19 minutes per game. There was a falling out with the Nuggets in his sophomore season in 2022-23, however, as GM Calvin Booth essentially called him a 'me-first' guy, who couldn't defend. He was dealt to the LA Clippers, and he finished that season with a respectable 11.8 points on 37% shooting from long range.
But his minutes and production have dropped off significantly over the past two seasons, and last year, he was traded by the Clippers, then waived last February, before signing a two-way deal with the T-Wolves. He barely got to show his stuff in Minnesota, playing only 17 minutes total for them across four games.
But Minny wants to get another look at Hyland, and are bringing him back again on a new deal this season.
In his four years in the Association, he's averaged 9.5 points and 2.6 assists, shooting 36.4% from long range.
