Breaking: No. 2 Overall Draft Pick Flop Waived By Yet Another NBA Team

Another opportunity has gone by the wayside for former No. 2 overall draft pick James Wiseman. The Indiana Pacers have decided to move on from the 7-footer after just one game this season (and one game last season).

Wiseman, 24, had just made his return to the court after an Achilles tear wiped out his 2024-25 season.

The Golden State Warriors had high hopes when they selected Wiseman second overall in the 2020 NBA Draft. But a knee injury was the culprit keeping him off the court completely in his second season, and he never made inroads as a viable rotation player for the Dubs after that.

He had a nice 24-game trial with the Detroit Pistons in 2022-23, averaging 12.7 points and 8.1 rebounds, but he was unable to follow that up the next year, and barely registered at all with the Pacers. He had four points and four rebounds in 20 minutes for Indiana in their second game of the season last week, but never saw the floor again.

Now, he's back out on the open market.
