Breaking: 3-Time Slam Dunk Champ Mac McClung Gets Multi-Year NBA Deal
It's been a long time coming for one of the most exciting players in basketball. Mac McClung, the three-time defending champion of the NBA's Slam Dunk Contest, has his first standard NBA deal, and a multi-year one at that, signing on with the Indiana Pacers.
The Indiana Pacers are signing guard Mac McClung to a multiyear contract, Greg Lawrence of Wasserman tells ESPN. The deal marks the first standard NBA contract for McClung, after the dunk contest's first-ever three-peat champion spent time on camp and two-way deals since 2021. pic.twitter.com/wOOT8v6DCr

McClung, 26, has only had training camp agreements and two-way deals over his career, and has only played a total of six games in the league over the last four seasons. He last appeared in the Association with the Orlando Magic last year, playing in two games, for a total of only 10 minutes.
Pacers sign McClung with four guards dealing with injuries
With the season-long absence of Tyrese Haliburton, the Pacers were in need of more depth in the backcourt, and McClung will hopefully get a chance to fill a role there. Andrew Nembhard, Bennedict Mathurin and TJ McConnell are other Pacers guards who have been ailing to start this season.
The 6'2" point guard McClung was the G League MVP for the 2023-24 season, with a league-leading 25.7 points per game, 6.6 assists and 4.7 rebounds.
He's the first player ever to win three straight NBA Slam Dunk contests.
